Belmont Regional Park

Turn off State Highway 2 onto Dowse Drive and drive 3km. Turn onto Miromiro Road and then Stratton Street and drive 3km to the entrance of Belmont Regional Park.

Opening hours

Daily from 8am until dusk

Dogs are permitted on leash in the Korokoro, Stratton St and Dry Creek Valleys. Dogs are not permitted on or near farmland.

Permission is required for horse riding in the farming area. Keys are obtained from the Upper Hutt Depot.

Lambing and Calving

Farmed areas of the park will be closed for lambing and calving; West of the Transmission Gully designation will be closed from the 1 August to 21 October and the East of the Transmission Gully designation will be closed from 15 August to 21 October.  For more information please see Park News.

Korokoro Valley is Open

Lower Korokoro track is now open from Cornish Street to Baked Beans Bend, track open subject to track maintenance, take care.

The breathtaking views and bush-clad valleys of Belmont Regional Park make it a favourite open space for walking, running, mountain biking and horse riding. Located in the hill country between Porirua and the Hutt Valley, the park features the historic Korokoro Dam, World War II ammunition stores and the original main coach road from Wellington. Boulder Hill has sweeping views over Porirua Harbour, the Lower Hutt valley and the remnants of ancient boulder block fields.

Dogs are not permitted in the farmed areas of Belmont Regional Park.
