All around the Wellington region, more and more people are walking, catching the bus, train or ferry, cycling and scooting - even for part of the journey to work. Active a2b is all about celebrating those journeys and the benefits everyday people get from their commute.
Over 6,000 commuters have enjoyed participating in Active a2b over the last six years and we want to continue encouraging active and sustainable travel to work. This year the New Zealand Transport Agency is running the Aotearoa Bike Challenge. The challenge provides tailored guidance and tips, a friendly workplace competition, and lots of great prizes on offer!
Greater Wellington is supporting the national bike challenge with a ‘child site’ for the Wellington region which we will be promoting widely over the summer. We’ll be in touch with past Active a2b participants and workplaces with more information.
In the meantime we’ve decided to put Active a2b on hold for 2017 so that we can focus on building a bigger and better promotion for the region’s commuters in the future.
