A special way to celebrate life

The Celebrate Life Totara Grove in Kaitoke Regional Park is flourishing as people choose to plant a totara sapling to mark life’s important occasions.

“Recently a 30-strong group of people, along with quite a few bottles of champagne, planted a tree to celebrate a family reunion,” says Kaitoke Regional Park Ranger Steve Edwards. “We also have new parents planting a tree to celebrate the birth of a child, or friends and family marking the death of a loved one. Totara are also planted to celebrate weddings or important achievements, such as giving up smoking.”

The $30 cost includes a totara sapling, certificate and maintenance of the tree.
