Greater Wellington Environment Awards
Greater Wellington would like to recognise and reward some of the extraordinary work that people are doing in partnership with us to improve the health of the environment throughout the Wellington region.
The GW Environmental Awards are a series of awards that recognise the main groups of people that we work with to fulfil our goal of a sustainable future. 2009 sees a new category emerge to recognise the effort of business’s working alongside Greater Wellington
eMission - Carbon Reduction Programme
2009 sees the launch of Greater Wellington’s new sustainable business programme eMission. A pilot programme being run in partnership with Ministry for Economic Development, EECA, Righthouse and Landcare, eMission is an intensive 1 year programme designed for businesses to achieve gold level Enviromark accreditation.
Need funding for a group to take care of the environment?
Greater Wellington staff are available to help with your community environmental project through the Take Care programme. Take Care provides financial support and specialist assistance for community groups wanting to look after the environment. Find out more about how we can help.
Do you have children in school or are you a teacher?
Greater Wellington’s Take Action for Water and Take Action for Air programmes are school-based programmes for children to take responsibility for their environment - with help from teachers and the community

Did you know you could be fined for putting anything other that rainwater down the storm water drain? People who wash paint and detergents down the storm water drain can cause serious environmental damage. Save the drain for Rain explains the issues in more detail. Do you REALLY want to make a difference?
Well, here is your chance! Become involved in the Be the Difference campaign, a fun programme to encourage you to take personal responsibility for the environment of the region. When you join the program we’ll email you 4 times a year and show you small changes that you can make to your daily life that will make a big difference to the environment over time.
