What is a publicly notified consent application?
If we’re satisfied that the adverse effects of the proposed activity will be more than minor, or if there are special circumstances, we publicly notify the application.
This means:
- we put a notice summarising the application in the public notices section of the major daily newspaper and occasionally in a local paper circulating in the area likely to be affected by the proposed activity
- we write topeople who we consider may be affected by the proposal, such as neighbours
- we place a sign summarising the application at the site of the proposed activity
- if submitters wish to be heard, or Greater Wellington thinks it necessary, we hold a hearing to decide the application.
