What has the group done?
Moehau Stream starts in Wallaceville, runs through Trentham and ends up next to Bartons Bush in Trentham Memorial Park before flowing into the Hutt river.
The group has prepared a management plan for restoring the stream next to Bartons Bush. Trials for clearing weeds and a planting programme have been carried out over the last few years. These trials were succesful, anda more extensive weed clearance and planting programme has begun!
Special thanks to the Department of Corrections for their commitment to weed control at this site.

Current activities
Second Riparian Site at Moehau Park
The group is growing plants at the local Forest & Bird nursery. Fergusson Intermediate planted trees at the first site in 2005, and Trentham Primary school planted at the second riparian site in 2006. Corporate Volunteers from Accor HotelsGroup, and ANZ National have also been involved with planting and caring for new trees.
The eventual aim is to remove the willows to allow the stream to flow smoothly, and to replant the banks of the stream in nativesto bring Bartons Bush across to Moehau Park.
