Tanawa Hut
This site is located in the north eastern Wairarapa hills, about 15 km north of Tinui. The site is at an elevation of 280 metres and provides an indication of rainfall in the Tinui River catchment (which feeds into the Whareama River). It has been operating since 1992, although there are monthly rainfall data for the site from 1956 onwards. We also monitor soil moisture and soil temperature at this site.
