The regional cycling maps have been superceded by the cycling and walking journey planner. This online tool gives detailed route and elevation information, shows points of interest and even includes a calorie counter.
Mountain biking maps
Mountain biking is a challenging and exhilarating way to explore some of the more beautiful and little known parts of the Wellington region.
Whether you want historic trails, hill country farmland or tricky forest tracks, you will find it in the regional parks and forests. They offer a variety of terrain and scenery to suit all abilities and levels of fitness.

Mountain Biking in Wellington
Wellington City Council produce a brochure that details a range of tracks throughout Wellington Cityopen to mountain bikers. Most of these tracks are shared by walkers, trampers or joggers, so please ride safely and make your trip an enjoyable one.
The map is numbered from North to South andhasdescriptions on the second page with more details. Tracks can also be done in the opposite direction to make it a return trip or easy to get to and from different areas.
Pick up the brochure from any Feeling Great stand near you – libraries, cafes, service centre, supermarket, train station, airport or Visitor Information Centre.
