Proposal:

The applicant proposes to develop a Gravel Extraction and Cleanfill Operation. The proposal will include:

  • extraction of aggregate materials to 0.5m above the water table;
  • use of a mobile crushing plant on the floor of the existing quarry area;
  • taking water from the Taratahi water race for aggregate washing;
  • discharging sediment laden washwater and stormwater via settlement ponds with final discharge to a water body draining to Waingawa Swamp;
  • extraction of gravels to be staged with completed areas receiving clean fill to rehabilitate the site.
