What has the group done?

The reserve was formerly a Fish and Game trout hatchery. The land and wetlands around the hatchery have been extensively planted with native plants over the last few years.

The group has also created an extensive network of walking tracks and seats for visitors to enjoy the birds from. In time, the area will become a showcase reserve and educational resource on native plants.

Current activities

The group is carrying out weed control and growing plants at their nursery to plant out in the next planting season. They also plan to remove willows and weed in the ponds on the reserve to improve the water quality, and encourage the aquatic wildlife.
