What has the group done?
The Friends run various guided walks and park open days to promote the special features of Belmont Regional Park. It has published a short history of the Old Coach Road and takes part in various park planting days.
FoBRP have been very active in making submissions to city and regional councils about a number of issues affecting the park. An example was Hutt City Council's decision to put a reserve status on the Kilmister Block (a large section of the park). The group has opposed various proposals to put roads through the park, and staged an ultimately successful campaign for GW to purchase Waitangirua Farm from the Crown.
