Feet first

More than 50 schools in the Wellington region are taking part in the Feet First Walking Wednesdays programme, where children are encouraged to walk part of, or the whole way, to school at least one day a week.

Greater Wellington’s Susan Hutchinson-Daniel hopes that walking to school becomes a daily experience for many children. “It’s a fun way to increase fitness, learn road sense and get to know your neighbourhood. It’s also a great way to spend chat time with your kids and is environmentally friendly.”
