Environmental monitoring boosted
Greater Wellington has extended its network of monitoring stations and the environmental monitoring data available on our website.
We’ve added new rainfall monitoring stations at Makara, Paekakariki, Longbush, Kiriwhakapapa (near Masterton) and Pencarrow Lakes, new stream-flow monitoring stations on Parkvale Stream, Mangatarere River, Papawai Stream and Tilsons Creek, and new soil moisture and temperature monitoring in eastern Wairarapa.
Upgraded automatic water level recorders have also been installed in the Ruamahanga floodways. Daily rainfall totals, soil moisture, groundwater levels and bathing water quality are just some of the information available on our website.
