Discover Belmont Regional Park

Posted on 8 January 2009

This summer there are some great opportunities to explore the wealth of hills, valleys and streams in Belmont Regional Park – right on the back doorstep of Porirua and the Hutt Valley.

Greater Wellington has coordinated guided walks in the park as part of its Regional Outdoors Programme. The walks will be led by experienced guides who will share their knowledge of the park and its environment.

“I highly recommend a trip to discover or rediscover this incredibly diverse park,” says Greater Wellington’s Parks, Forests and Utilities Committee Chairman Cr Rex Kirton. “No matter what your fitness level, there’s something for everyone. You can take an easy walk to see the little streams and ponds of the ‘real’ Cannons Creek with the Friends of Maara Roa or do a hill walk in the ‘Explore Belmont’ series and enjoy great views.”

For information on these walks and other Regional Outdoors Programme events, including more walks in Belmont Regional Park, check out www.gw.govt.nz/events. You can also email bookings@gw.govt.nz or phone 04 801 1041.
