10-Year Plan 2006-16 (incorporating the 2006/07 annual plan) - Approved

Greater Wellington Regional Council has adopted its Long-term Council Community Plan 2006-16.

In the proposed Plan, Greater Wellington specifically sought the community’s views on some major strategic decisions. The feedback we received was excellent and is discussed further below.

We were delighted to receive 411 submissions on the proposed Plan. Thank you to all those who took the time to contribute to our long-term plan.  Each submission was carefully considered and, as a result, changes have been made for the final Plan.

Greater Wellington ten-year plan comprises three parts - Summary, Detailed Information and Policies. The Summary provides an overall summary of the information provided in the other two documents. It describes the outcomes that the community wants for the region and shows how Greater Wellington will contribute to the achievement of these outcomes, along with the costs.

Detailed Information is organised around groups of activities that reflect Greater Wellington's functional areas. It details our work programmes and sets out both long-term (ten-year) and short-term targets (three years) for our work so that our progress can be assessed. Detailed budgeting and funding information is also included, as is information on our investments and our and our Council Controlled Organisations.

Policies contains the following policies:

  • Significance.
  • Partnerships with the private sector.
  • Rates remission and postponement.
  • Development contributions or financial contributions.
  • Treasury management
  • Revenue and financing.
